Hello world!

Cruise trip to Juneau taught me: Each of us has a unique purpose in life, a calling that gives meaning to our journey. But how do we discover it? Sometimes, it’s right in front of us; other times, we need the insight or encouragement of others to reveal it. The story of Siddhartha, who transformed into Gautama Buddha, offers a powerful example. Explore how he uncovered his purpose and became one of history’s greatest spiritual guides.

I’ve learned so much from observing ants and their incredible work ethic. No matter the size of the challenge or the weight of the load, ants move forward with determination and unity. They carry on, day after day, without expecting reward or recognition. Each ant knows its role and contributes to the whole, teaching us the power of teamwork and resilience. Even when obstacles arise—puddles, walls, or even the threat of predators—they find a way to adapt, navigate, and continue. Watching them reminds me that persistence, collaboration, and adaptability are key to overcoming challenges, no matter how big they seem.

I was on a cruise trip to Juneau, a place I’d always dreamed of visiting. The landscape was breathtaking—misty mountains rising from the sea, evergreen forests cloaked in fog, and waterfalls pouring from high cliffs. But one sight stood out to me above all else.

One day, we visited a secluded river nestled within the dense forest. As I approached the water’s edge, I noticed something strange. Hundreds of salmon were gathered, standing almost still, in a line against the current. It was mesmerizing to watch—their silvery bodies shimmering just beneath the water’s surface, each fish facing upstream. They seemed to be waiting, their purpose resolute.

Curious, I asked our guide why they were all there, what they were waiting for. The answer was unexpected yet beautiful: these salmon were nearing the end of a long journey, driven by an instinct older than any of us. They had returned from the open ocean to this very pond where they were born, fighting against the powerful current to spawn a new generation. This would be their final act in life, a mission they pursued with unwavering determination.

Watching them, I felt a deep sense of admiration. The salmon had traveled hundreds, even thousands, of miles to complete their purpose. Their journey was full of obstacles, from predators to natural barriers, yet here they were, undeterred and resolute. It made me reflect on my own life and purpose, and how, perhaps, I could learn from the perseverance and dedication of these humble fish.

In that quiet moment by the river, I saw more than just fish. I saw a testament to resilience, to the idea that sometimes, our journey may be challenging, but the purpose waiting at the end is worth every struggle.

Why do we use it?

It is a long established fact that a reader will be distracted by the readable content of a page when looking at its layout. The point of using Lorem Ipsum is that it has a more-or-less normal distribution of letters, as opposed to using ‘Content here, content here’, making it look like readable English. Many desktop publishing packages and web page editors now use Lorem Ipsum as their default model text, and a search for ‘lorem ipsum’ will uncover many web sites still in their infancy. Various versions have evolved over the years, sometimes by accident, sometimes on purpose (injected humour and the like).

Where does it come from?

Contrary to popular belief, Lorem Ipsum is not simply random text. It has roots in a piece of classical Latin literature from 45 BC, making it over 2000 years old. Richard McClintock, a Latin professor at Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia, looked up one of the more obscure Latin words, consectetur, from a Lorem Ipsum passage, and going through the cites of the word in classical literature, discovered the undoubtable source. Lorem Ipsum comes from sections 1.10.32 and 1.10.33 of “de Finibus Bonorum et Malorum” (The Extremes of Good and Evil) by Cicero, written in 45 BC. This book is a treatise on the theory of ethics, very popular during the Renaissance. The first line of Lorem Ipsum, “Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet..”, comes from a line in section 1.10.32.
